Week 3 (10 Sep 07) Notes to Particia:
  • TCH: Be sure to let show us not just iTunes but also iTunesU. Also: see if you can show us how to add to the iTunes catalog. I''m hoping to get something going equivalent to the University of South Florida's iTunesU. (In fact, they probably have materials on iTunes/iTunesU to help you get started.)

  • TCH: Be sure to highlight your observations about the differences in navigation and organization. I think you're onto something about the effect of the tool's affordances, how it shapes users' actions.
Tim McCann audio editors...link to post-presentation blog discussion Week 3 (10 Sep 07) Notes to Tim:
  • TCH: Feel free to include platform-specific tools such as GarageBand, but also hit at least one open-source, multi-platform tool such as Audacity.
  • TCH: Also be sure to show how to export to an .mp3 format--that sometimes trips people up.
  • TCH: And show the difference between a project file and a finished, closed audio file (such an an .mp3) -- that will set us up nicely for iMovie and Movie Maker

Week 4 (17 Sep 07) Notes to Michael:
  • If you have the opportunity, play around with Wink, an open-source screen capture utility. I'm not an expert on this type of tool (screen-capture), so I'll defer to your judgment as to whether Wink is worth a mention or not.

Terri Miquel Inspiration / Kidspiration
blog discussion
Week 4 (17 Sep 07) Notes to Terri:
  • TCH: There are a couple open-source concept-mappers: freemind and smartdraw (although I think the latter is a proprietary piece that's given away free). If you have the chance, take a look and introduce a little compare/contrast into your presentation. However, I'm pretty sure that Inspiration and Kidspiration are superior products.
